All I Want Is Love Cover ArtHave you ever…

…felt that all you really want is to be loved?

…looked for love but found hurt and betrayal?

…found yourself doing things you did not want to do hoping to keep someone’s love?

Love is something every person yearns for. It is to the heart what water is to the body. Have you ever been thirsty – so thirsty that you could only think about finding something to drink? Our heart is thirsty for someone to love us for who we are and accept us without trying to change us. If we could just find that kind of love, then we would be truly happy.

Many young women spend their lives looking for this love and happiness. With parched hearts they grab onto anything that looks like it will satisfy their thirst for love. They may find it for awhile, but it never lasts. And so they continue looking. They may try alcohol, drugs or partying to dull the pain in their hearts.

Or they may get involved in one sexual relationship after another looking for real love. But nothing seems to work out like they had hoped.

Have you ever heard the Bible story of the woman at the well? Her life was much like this. She was sexually involved with five different guys. By the standards of her day, she was considered a prostitute. She met Jesus as she was drawing water and was amazed that he spoke to her. Everyone else avoided her. Yet, He spoke with love and honesty. He knew she had come for water, but He also knew that her heart thirsted for love. He said, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4: 13-14)

Is your heart thirsty for real love? Jesus said that He has that love for you. It can be like a spring of water in your heart. No matter what the circumstances, that love will always be there. You will have peace and joy, even in the hardest times.

The woman at the well asked Jesus, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” (John 4:15) She didn’t understand. So Jesus explained that eternal life was hers if she believed in Him. He is the living water! Jesus is saying the same thing to you. Love is there for you – all you have to do is ask.

God created us to have a relationship with Him. He wants us to be happy. Not the kind of happy that comes with a new car or a fun time. He wants us to have the happiness that comes from deep within our heart. That can only come from knowing Him. The question is, “How?”

As human beings, we all sin. The problem is, sin separates us from God. The Bible says: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. (Rom. 3:23) Most people feel that separation in their heart. They want a relationship with God. But this is not possible because we are all sinners. So how does anyone come to know God? The answer is through His son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, …”I am the way and the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Are you tired of looking for real love and finding only pain? Do you sometimes wonder if there is any meaning in life? Do you yearn for a relationship with a Father who will love you unconditionally, completely, totally and forever? You can have this relationship with your Father in heaven by accepting Jesus as your Savior. You don’t have to understand it. You just need to ask and God will do the rest.

If you really meant what you just said to God, you now have Jesus in your heart. This is only the beginning. Your entire life will change as you feel God’s love fill your heart.

First… Admit your need. You can talk to God just like you talk to a friend. You don’t need a church building or fancy words. Just find a quiet place and open your heart to Him. Tell Him your hurts and your desire for His love.

Second… As you talk to God, tell Him how sorry you are for sinning. Ask Him for forgiveness and help.

Third… Ask Jesus to come into your heart as your Savior and Lord.
