Brazil

Abortion is only legal in Brazil for two reasons, if the life of the mother is in danger and to kill a child that  is the result of rape [1].  The punishment for a woman to perform an abortion on herself or consenting to an abortion is one to three years imprisonment [2].  If the abortion causes any harm to the woman the punishment increases by one-third and if the abortion causes the death of the woman than the punishment is double [3].

Abortion proponents have been trying to change the law to include any deformed or retarded baby but have not yet been successful.
